Ms. Megan Reese, PE, is a forensic structural engineer with YA Engineering Services based in New York, New York. Her sixteen years of experience includes the investigation, analysis, and repair of structures and building envelopes in New York City and throughout the East Coast. She has conducted property loss assessments on buildings and infrastructure to evaluate damage resulting from hurricanes, wind, fire, snow, water intrusion, impact, overloading, and adjacent construction activities. As part of her forensic work, Ms. Reese also conducts building code analysis and provides litigation support. Her structural repair design experience includes steel, concrete, wood, and masonry on a wide variety of historical and contemporary structure types, ranging from 19th-century cast-iron buildings to modern concrete high rises. Additionally, Ms. Reese has completed numerous building envelope condition assessments and designed repairs for various types of facade assemblies, fenestration, and roofing materials.
Ms. Reese evaluated buildings throughout the Northeast after Hurricane Irene in 2011 and Hurricane Sandy in 2012, including rapid assessment of building structural stability in coastal areas with the NYC Department of Buildings following Hurricane Sandy. Since 2017, she has traveled to the Southwest following hurricanes to evaluate the impact to buildings in coastal Texas, Florida, and Louisiana.
