Michael Ruskin, MSM

Michael Ruskin is a fully licensed Florida All-lines Insurance General Adjuster, National Appraiser and Appraisal Umpire. He is a certified umpire and appraiser through the Windstorm Insurance Network and works serving the entire contiguous United States. Michael has also served as a Supreme Court of Florida Certified County Court Mediator. He is the 2019-2020 Windstorm Insurance Network Past President.

As appraiser, Michael has worked both plaintiff and defense sides on over 2,000 appraisals and umpire on well over 3,000 cases. Currently, his work is comprised of
80% umpire work and 20% appraisal work. Of the appraisal work, 90% are representing insurance carriers as an independent appraiser.

Previously, Mr. Ruskin worked as a restoration contractor serving the insurance industry. His work included restoration projects after Hurricane’s Andrew, Charley, Jeanne and Katrina. He has also worked as an appraiser on related hurricane claims to also include hurricane’s Irene, Ike and Sandy, Mathew and Irma.

Michael graduated from Walsh College of Business with a Master of Business Administration –Finance and Human Resources (1998) and from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (1988). His accreditations include 2010 Windstorm Insurance Network Annual Conference Chairperson, Certified Mold Remediator (CMR), Past member of the South Florida Claims Association, and Certified Advanced Umpire through the Windstorm Insurance Network. Michael has been the presenter of many seminars to various claims associations and insurance companies.
