ASTM E2128 - The Gold Standard for Forensic Investigations (W10)

Many in the Forensic Engineering field believe there is no written standard for performing an investigation of a damaged structure, but that is not true.  Although ASTM E 2128 is titled “Standard Guide for Evaluating Water Leakage of Building Walls,” the guidelines and process set forth in this consensus document have been adopted by the Engineering community as a valid scientific methodology for most, if not all, forensic investigations that are attempting to identify the cause and origin of damages to a structure, regardless of whether damage is from water and/or to the structure’s walls.  This presentation will discuss the activities set forth in ASTM E 2128 and the investigator’s decisions regarding their application.
