As building codes and construction catchup to the speed, strength and ferocity of mother nature, catastrophic failures of buildings are less common. While the buildings may not collapse or fail in the same manner as previous generations, the building envelope is being subjected to more intense wind, rain and debris during recent severe weather. Serving as the exterior skin and the first line of defense against severe weather, this session is meant to enlighten the audience as to how various building envelope components such as roofing, cladding, windows and doors function and also how they can and do fail in storm events. During this session, our speakers will be providing real world examples of past failures and successes of these products, as well as what to look for during your next inspection.
